WNY Junior Tennis Acacemy

Students demonstrating the desire, commitment and athletic potential to take their game to next level deserve a program designed to support and facilitate making their dream a reality. The WNY Tennis Academy Pathway is a superior high-performance development program designed to provide students of all ages and skill levels the training and solid foundation that is central to our proven process on their journey to enhance their craft.

WNY Tennis Academy students from Red to Gold levels explore the game as they continue to refine their skills. Learning powerful new tools prepares them to perform at peak levels in tournament play, and by taking their development to the highest levels for college tennis. Each session will address individual technical, tactical, mental, social and athletic training development with purpose, expertise and a plan.

Academy Red

We’ve designed Academy Red for beginner players ages 5-7, intent on enabling them to have fun while learning Academy Red level competencies. Tennis curriculum focuses on developing depth, directional intent, and ball recognition. Before moving up to the next level, Academy Red players must demonstrate the ability to apply skills learned in games. The ability to intentionally move the ball, especially side to side, with recognition of open court spaces and to demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver overhand serves from the 36’ court. A minimum of 2 days per week is required for the Academy Red program.

Academy Orange

Academy Orange is designed for beginner through intermediate players and focuses on developing a greater understanding of how to play the game, by teaching depth, changing direction of the ball, net play and more. Prior to moving to the next level, the player will have demonstrated their ability to direct the ball side to side and recognition of open court spaces. The player will also be able to demonstrate an approach and volley to an open space. A minimum of 2 days a week is required for this program.

Academy Green

Academy Green is designed for advanced beginner through intermediate level players ages 10-12, and focuses on stroke development, spin, height, depth, direction, pace of shots, correct footwork pattern to most effectively strike the ball and singles and doubles tactics. Players learn to develop individual game strengths and how to use them to their advantage. At this stage of the pathway, Green players have a strong desire to compete, set personal goals, play tournaments, team tennis and interscholastic competition. Most critical, however, they’ll continue to love the game and enjoy the process. A minimum of 2 days a week is required for this program.

Academy Bronze

At this level, experienced players develop their stroke technique, mental toughness, tactical strategy, decision making, athletic skill development and court coverage skills.  Development features a combination of technical drills followed by rallying and point play drills that reinforce the training.  Players learn how to build points and compete successfully. Academy Bronze players are required to play in at least 2 training days/week and should have a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) rating of 2.0 or below.

Academy Silver

At the Academy Silver level, continued developed includes teaching focused technical understanding of singles and doubles strategies to successfully compete at the tournament level.  Drills, matches and complete agility-power-speed regimens assist them to become solid, well-rounded and more complete players.  Players at the Academy Silver level have a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) between 3.0 and 5.0 with proven skills, a strong dedication to improve and the will to work hard to reach their optimal potential is essential. A minimum of 3 days a week is required for this program.

Academy Gold

Academy Gold focuses on technical understanding of singles and doubles strategies necessary to compete at the tournament level. Players drill, play matches and complete agility-power-speed regimens that will assist them in becoming a solid, well-rounded and more complete player. Players at this level need a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) 6.0 and above with proven skills, a strong dedication to improve and the will to work hard to reach their optimal potential. Minimum of 3 days a week is required for the program.

Match Play

Match Play is conceived as the perfect opportunity to bring it all together, combining ongoing development and showcasing progress. Students are provided singles and doubles matches in a fun competitive environment, demonstrating newly learned skills in an environment that fosters continued development of strategy and tactics.  

Tournaments

Both sanctioned and no-sanctioned tournaments are held throughout the year.

Drill & Play

Designed for Jr. Varsity and Varsity players, Drill & Play is the perfect blend of drilling combined with practice play. This program enables advancing players to continue to work on their skills and tactical development in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere.
